PELZ PLAYER PUTTING MAT REVIEW

The Pelz Player Putting Mat

Unfortunately, the off season is looming for many of us so it is more important now than ever not to lose your touch with the flat stick over the cold winter months. The Pelz Player Putting Mat can help you stay dialed and roll the rock more confidently regardless of the cold season.

Setup

This 10.5-foot mat is about as easy as it gets and is ready to go in a matter of seconds. Roll the Pelz Player Putting Mat out on the flattest and smoothest surface you can find, and start putting. After giving the mat a few minutes to settle down after being unpackaged, I found it to lay flat with little to minimum bumps. The rubber backing beneath creates a nice non-slip grip on the floor, and a quality carpet-like material on top delivers a true roll. However, keep in mind that any uneven surface within your home or office will result in a natural break on the mat, so do your best to find a level surface.

Performance

Since the start of the global pandemic, at home golf training aids have seen a boom in popularity with putting mats leading the charge. So, what makes the Pelz Player Putting Mat stand out from the rest? The three hole setup of this mat caught my eye the most. Ranging from 3, 6, and 9 foot putts, this mat can help boost your confidence the next time you stand over a knee-knocking birdie putt. Another excellent feature of this mat is the “T” line at each distance to help with square putter face alignment. As someone who just recently changed putter and grip style, I really appreciated this feature and it helped me gain trust in my new armlock stroke before playing my next round.

The single and double marks every 1 and 3 feet will keep your distance control sharp. One of my favorite features is the dashed line 17 inches behind the 3 and 6 foot holes to help learn the optimal putting speed so you can stop leaving putts short. Additionally, the two shorter putts have tracks leading to the hole to help you visualize a confident end-over-end roll and easily identify any mishits.

The mat also includes a foam wedge about the width of the mat that can be used to add different elements of break or a backstop and ball return. I found myself using it to practice those pesky left to righters that seem to run up my scores every weekend.

Final Thoughts – Pelz Player Putting Mat

The Pelz Player Putting Mat is right up there with the competition. Solid build construction, multiple hole distances, and easy storage are some key benefits. Like I said before, a putting mat is only as good as the floor beneath it. Finding a flat surface is key to getting the most out of any mat and this one is no exception. The 10.5 foot length puts the Pelz mat gives you that extra distance for an “at home” mat to really nail down every putt within 10 feet. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to start sharp this offseason or to add to their home or office golf setup.

Gareth Raflewski’s short game training is highly respected and the same programs can be followed by you at home. The Raflewski Tour putting mat is a realistic fit for any home and rolls pure. I can’t stress enough how difficult that is to come across, and especially at an affordable price point. So if you’re looking for a legitimately good quality, useful mat that won’t break the bank, I’m pretty impressed by the Raflewski Tour mat. - Bill Bush, Driving Range Heroes
