Dave Pelz receives patent for his new putting cups that improve putting and teaches tour-proven green-reading

Dave Pelz has always been a practical scientist focused on results. His early work at NASA, after graduating from Indiana University, taught him how to develop the simplest solution for a complex problem. Today Pelz is the world-renowned short-game guru in golf with proven success at the highest level of the game, working with top players such as Master’s Champions Phil Mickelson and Patrick Reed.

Pelz’s latest technical success is the awarding of a patent for his revolutionary new Pelz Player Putting Cups. The concept began early in Dave’s work with tour players where he found that a focus on a very small aim point improves a player’s putting performance. Dave constantly worked with his accomplished tour players, teaching them to putt at a small portion of the hole, focused only on the entry point where the ball would enter the hole. He fully understood that breaking putts have a different entry point as the ball rolls into the hole that is not the direct line of sight one sees as you putt. The amazing success once players understood this concept totally changed the player’s view of both speed and how they read the break on the green itself.

The culmination of all the years of coaching tour players and teaching how to read greens has resulted in what may be the best kept secret in golf:  how to read greens and putt to the correct target.

The new patented cup has spacers built in to create a narrower entry point in the standard hole size. The adjustable spacers allow a player to reduce the focal point on the entry point for the ball, and to adjust the angle of the cup so a ball will enter straight-on, increasing the number of putts made. Practicing with this device improves a golfer by simply retraining their perception of putts.

“I wish I had developed this earlier,” says Pelz “because it truly will help every golfer learn the concept of proper line and green-reading technique.” The Pelz Player Putting Cups include instructions on how to use the putting cups both indoors with the Pelz Player Putting Mat, and outdoors on the practice green. “I designed the Putting Cups and the Putting Mat together to help all golfers form an indoor practice center, and to be help them take these techniques to the practice green on the course.”

The new patented Pelz Player Putting Cups and Putting Mats are developed in partnership with Catalyst Golf and are available today for all golfers to help learn the secrets of putting and green reading. They are available online at www.catalystgolf.com and coming soon to golf pro shops and golf retail stores. Wholesale inquiries can contact sales@catalystgolf.com.
